Captain Bacchus settled ‘The marsh’ in 1893 and like many other settlers, left his name for prosperity, but the not so accurate association of the townships name, with the Greek God Bacchus, is more in line with the festivities planned for  the longest lunch:

“Bacchus: the Roman God of wine and revelry; the inspirer of ritual madness and ecstasy; patron of deity (agriculture); the liberator, freeing one from one’s normal self, the end to care and worry.”

Are there parallels between the town’s vibrant appeal, its harvest festivities, agricultural pursuits and the celebratory nature of our famous namesake?  Come to the lunch and find out for yourself. According to an event organizer Jenny Tassone they are, “planning to organize a feast fit for Bacchus himself!”

Participants will indulge in a delicious four course lunch with matched wines. Food will be prepared fresh from the surrounding orchards, market gardens and farms. Award winning wines will be served from local vineyards.

Join in for lunch, take a tour through The Avenue, pick the fruit and taste the wine and revel…well, maybe just enjoy.  Bacchus won’t be impressed if you don’t.

Tickets are $100 per person and fundraising events will be held on the day to support the local hospital.
